Snowboard Levels in Montgenèvre
Grab your board, progress at your pace, and ride like a pro.
Beginner Level
You’ve never snowboarded before. We’ll teach you the basics: finding balance, controlling your board, and making your first turns safely.

Bronze Board
You’ve completed the Mini Board or a week-long initiation course. You can perform the “falling leaf” backside and a bit frontside. You’ve made some turns, but consistency isn’t there yet.

Silver Board
You’ve obtained the Bronze Board and ride comfortably on blue runs while controlling your speed. You can turn both ways and are ready for red runs. You are autonomous on ski lifts.

Vermeil Board
You’ve obtained your Silver Board and ride comfortably on red runs while maintaining speed and trajectory control. You chain fluid frontside and backside turns and transitions, handle varied terrain such as steep slopes, moguls, and powder, and are ready to explore black runs, carving, and your first freestyle or off-piste experiences.

Gold Board
You’ve obtained your Vermeil Board and ride confidently on all terrain, including black runs, mastering speed and line choice. You perform precise carving turns, transition smoothly on all terrain types, ride off-piste with ease, and practice basic freestyle tricks.

Freeride Camp
You’ve obtained your Gold Board and are ready to join our freeride program shared with skiers. The week includes off-piste riding, safety training, and adapting to all types of snow and terrain.

FAQ – Choosing Your Snowboard Level
Which level should I choose if I’m a total beginner?
If you’ve never been on a board before, choose the Beginner Level. We’ll give you everything you need to progress safely and efficiently.
What if I’m unsure between two levels?
If you’re hesitating, always pick the lower level. If you progress quickly, the instructor can move you up.
Are groups really organized by level?
Yes, it’s essential for safety and smooth progression, and to maintain a good group dynamic.
Can I change groups if the level doesn’t fit?
Yes, if the instructor considers it necessary after the first session.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Equipment is not included. However, we work with several rental shops in Montgenèvre where you can get gear adapted to your level.
From what age can children start snowboarding?
Group snowboard lessons are available from age 7 depending on physical maturity. Before that, private lessons are recommended.
Is wearing a helmet compulsory?
Yes. Snowboarding involves falls and risk, so proper protection is strongly recommended for everyone.
