Fancy an after-ski you’ll actually remember? Strap on your snowshoes and head out at dusk for a gentle, family-friendly walk. The sky turns pink and gold, the snow sparkles… and at the end of the trail, a cosy Mongolian yurt is waiting, ready for a proper Savoyard cheese fondue by the fire.

A proper yurt feast — the warmest bit of your holiday

This outing is designed for everyone. The route is gentle and easy, ideal for families and children from age 4. Your guide sets a comfortable pace so it stays fun, relaxed and genuinely memorable.

Everything included: snowshoes, head torches and good banter

No kit? No worries. Snowshoes are provided, as well as a head torch if needed. Just turn up with warm, waterproof boots and sensible layers. Your guide will keep things light with mountain stories, a few laughs and the odd little surprise.

Cheese fondue by the fire in an authentic Mongolian yurt

Once you arrive, the magic kicks in. Inside the yurt it’s cosy, bright and deliciously warm. The fondue is bubbling, the fire is crackling, and suddenly nobody’s checking their phone. A wonderfully simple, shared moment in the middle of a snowy mountain evening.

❄️ FAQ – Snowshoe & Fondue Night in a Yurt

Is the snowshoe walk difficult?
Not at all. The route is easy and suitable for beginners, including children from age 4. Your guide adapts the pace so everyone can enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed.
Do I need previous snowshoeing experience?
No experience needed. We provide the equipment and show you how it works before setting off. Within minutes you’ll be gliding along like you’ve done it for years.
What should I bring?
Warm, waterproof boots suitable for snow (after-ski boots or hiking boots), winter clothing, a small backpack and water. If you have ski poles, bring them — if not, we’ll sort you out. Everything else (snowshoes, head torch, fondue, the atmosphere) is included.
What age can children join?
Children are welcome from age 4. The route can be adapted and our guides are very used to families.
How long does the evening last?
Just over 3 hours: roughly 30–40 minutes of walking each way, plus plenty of time in the yurt for food and warmth.
Do we need to book in advance?
Yes, we strongly recommend booking ahead, especially during school holidays. Places are limited to keep the experience cosy.
What if someone doesn’t eat cheese?
We can usually sort an alternative, as long as you let us know in advance. (We’ll try not to take it too personally. 😉)
What if it’s very cold or snowing?
No problem — the outing usually goes ahead. The yurt is well insulated, heated, and always cosy. In heavy snowfall it’s often even more magical.
Where is the meeting point?
You’ll meet at the ESI office in Montgenèvre. Full details are sent after booking.
